HON a.s. is a family run business that develops and manufactures high-quality furniture for offices and business premises.

HON FURNITURE as well as HON METAL feature state-of-the-art technologies and software that optimizes the entire production process.

Products

Our manufacturing capabilities cover a wide range of diverse product types on the market presented under the brands HONmove, HONacoustic, HONkitchens, HOBIS and EXNER.

Increasingly popular HONmove height-adjustable tables have been developed from thein own prototype. Today this intelligent furniture is produced in seven standard types and countless other variations.

HONacoustic furniture is required especially in open space offices. Acoustic screens or entire walls, interior phone or meeting booths from the CUBE range reduce noise and improve working conditions.

Office furniture of HOBIS and EXNER brands is constantly evolving according to current trends. We are able to respond very flexibly to any atypical customer requirements and make tailor-made design furniture pieces.

Environment

Foundations of HON a.s. are in the countryside where consideration towards nature and natural resources are inherent.

In the next generations, we have taken up our approach and continue it in accordance with the requirements of modern times.

Since 2003, we have an Eco-friendly product certificate, in all areas of production, we naturally follow ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.

Energy saving is an essential pillar of ecological behaviour. By installing the energy reducer in 2013, we reduced our electricity consumption by 5%.

The production of chipboard waste has dropped by 90% since 2007, and since 2010 we have started to use the energy from waste incineration as an alternative heat source.

We inculcate environmental practices in our employees to become habits and self-evident behaviour, and to be able to pass on our philosophy of organic production to future generations.

History of HON a.s.

  • 1924

    Jan Hon gets a joiner's trade and sets up a workshop in Raduň.

  • 1948

    After the Communist coup, the workshop is nationalized, apprentices and freelancers are released. The company's activity ceases over time.

  • 1968

    Jan Hon obtains a small business license. The family is not giving up in the new conditions and is currently working on state orders, for example renovating the historic windows of the Raduň castle.

  • 1976

    The Hons are given permission to perform joinery for the needs of the inhabitants of Vlaštovičky and Skřipov. In the following years, they built joinery workshops in Vlaštovičky and Skřipov.

  • 1990

    The brothers Václav and Karel, the third generation of Hons, receive the Trade Certificate for Carpentry. Again, they renew the free business of HON family company.

  • 1992

    Together they buy a plot of land on the outskirts of Skřipov, and they are building a new 2,000-square-meter operation that works until today.

  • 1994

    The new line of office furniture HOBIS is created. The company has sixty employees.

  • 2000

    The HON company is expanding its production area in Opava, where the introduction of new processes using the latest machines builds modern workshops.

  • 2005

    HON purchases the EXNER furniture brand in Kutná Hora.

  • 2007

    Václav Hon jr. establishes the metalworking company HON-kovo s.r.o. A very important step leads to the independence of the joinery workshops in the supply of metal parts from elsewhere. A year later, HON-kovo s.r.o. supplies these parts to other subscribers.

  • 2008

    The holding company HON a.s. is founded, in the same year it achieves a record turnover of almost 400 million crowns.

  • 2010

    In the last twenty years of its market presence, HON has been able to produce and sell office furniture for 5 billion crowns.

  • 2012

    A complete catalog of seven lines of office furniture of middle class HOBIS. Opened the kitchen studio in Opava.

  • 2013

    HON a.s. begins to intensively develop its foreign trade. The EXNER furniture management line undergoes complete innovation. Open kitchen studio in Ostrava.

  • 2014

    HON celebrates 90th anniversary. From a small carpentry workshop, in the course of less than a century, it has become an ambitious business that is constantly growing. Despite the continuous increase in production and number of employees, the company's management takes care of the family atmosphere of the company. It is a tradition that the Hons know each of their employees by name.

  • 2015

    Generational Replacement in Company Leadership. Václav Hon entrusts management of the company to the son of Václav, who becomes the chairman of the board of HON a.s. The Fourth Generation of the Hon's is the management of the entire holding.

  • 2017

    Open the kitchen studio and furniture showroom in Nový Jičín.

  • 2018

    The final preparation for the construction of a new production and logistics complex in Skřipov was started.

  • 2020

    HON-kovo s.r.o. is acquired by the company HON a.s.

  • 2024

    HON company takes over distribution of HOBIS, EXNER and OFFICE PRO products in Moravia.
